Laurie Rowley is a social entrepreneur dedicated to building companies that improve financial security. She is Co-Founder and President of Icon, the country’s first universal retirement plan. She also is the founder of several successful companies including NARPP and N-Labs, where she still holds board positions. She has a background in behavioral finance and research having helped launch the Behavioral Finance Forum. She is widely regarded as an expert in financial decision making, human-centered design and strategy.

Sasha Mace

Head of Engineering

Sasha’s expertise is in product and engineering management. Most recently, he was VP of Engineering at Simple Bank where he was the key architect of company product and engineering strategy, leading a team of 75. Prior to his role as VP, he was Sr. Director of Web and Mobile engineering.

Alok Singh

Principal Engineer

Alok’s background is in developing large scale distributed systems. He was a principal engineer at Cloudability, UrbanAirship and lead architect at RipFog. Prior to that he was an early engineer at Jive Software.

Matt is a business intelligence professional specializing in the financial sector, who helps clients create innovative business solutions to produce efficient technology. His expertise stems from his extensive education in Information Technology Management and Statistics at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, TN. Matt has worked with industry leaders in developing SAAS (Software as a Service) platforms in the Retirement Planning and Mutual Fund Trading sectors. His focus is always on developing an IT culture focused on quick, simple, and innovative technology while ensuring that the final product always aligns with key business functions.

James Williams

Frontend Software Engineer

James specializes in web technologies and building excellent user interfaces. His focus is to find what customers want in a UI and build from that. Previously, he was a Senior Software Engineer at Cloudability and prior to that he had graduated from a coding school based in Portland, OR.

Doris Warren

Associate Frontend Software Engineer

Doris is a developer and designer, with a focus on end-to-end user experience, interaction, and responsiveness. She is able to work across the software delivery lifecycle, from ideation to production. Before Icon, Doris worked with several technology startups, including Streem and Lightspeed Systems, and prior to that she graduated from a coding school based in Portland, OR.

Alex specializes in building strategic solutions for technical challenges. His background is in global financial services, market research, trend analysis, and systems integration. He has built and maintained risk management tools, financial planning software, portfolio models and tactical asset allocation guidelines for US, UK, and European markets.

Rich is not just a communications expert; he is a visionary and strategist. He has the ability to transform complicated topics into simple, friendly and intelligent concepts. He was the head writer for Apple for eight years and has worked on a variety of groundbreaking projects over his career.

Kurt Noble

Web Designer and Developer

Kurt is a multi-award winning interactive designer and developer with over 18 years of experience overseeing the branding, user-experience design, and technical production of websites and applications. He has overseen the design and deployment of projects for Sprint, HP, Adobe, Hilton, Pepsi, Levi’s, Warner Brothers, Virgin Records, Bacardi, Yahoo!, Union Bank and was recently named one of the top 10 digital designers in San Francisco by The Next Web Magazine.

Warren Cormier

Mr. Cormier has more than twenty five years of quantitative and qualitative experience in financial services and consumer financial decision-making. He is the Co-Founder of Rand’s Behavioral Finance Forum, and is regarded as an expert in the field of behavioral finance and retirement savings.

Michael Kreps

Legal Counsel

Michael Kreps specializes in issues relating to public policy, fiduciary responsibility, and plan funding and restructuring. He routinely represents both private and public sector clients before federal agencies and Congress.

Previously, Michael served as the Senior Pensions and Employment Counsel for the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions from the 110th through the 114th Congresses. In that role, he managed all aspects of the Committee’s retirement agenda and had primary staff responsibility for pension legislation, including the pension investment provisions of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the funding stabilization and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation reform provisions of the MAP-21 Act of 2012, the Pension Relief Act of 2010, and the CSEC Pension Flexibility Act. He also led the Committee’s oversight of regulatory activities involving employee benefit plans.

Michael writes and speaks frequently on retirement and health policy.

Udo Frank

Udo Frank is an innovative and highly successful Global Asset Management Business Leader highly valued for his ability to analyze investment processes, outperform investment indices, and create, manage, and lead well-functioning teams to deliver ambitious business goals. Lindsay Owens

Retirement and Economic Policy Advisor

Lindsay A. Owens, Ph.D., is the 2014-2015 American Sociological Association Congressional Fellow. She received her Ph.D. in sociology from Stanford University where she was a National Poverty Fellow at the Center on Poverty and Inequality and National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow. She is a frequent author of opinion pieces and editorials, coeditor of a chartbook of 100 facts and figures on inequality (Inequality in the US: Understanding Inequality with Data), and a contributing author to the 2011 book, The Great Recession. Her research has appeared in some of the leading social science journals including Social Forces, Public Opinion Quarterly, and The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science. Her research interests are in inequality, economic sociology, housing, debt, consumption, and political attitudes.

Polly Scott

Polly Scott is the Communication & Deferred Compensation Plan Manager for the Wyoming Retirement system, and an Executive Board Member of the National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators (NAGDCA) until 2017. Polly provides leadership and vision for the Wyoming Retirement System’s 457 Plan and communication initiatives with expertise in retirement plan design, fiduciary oversight, and retirement policy initiatives.

Ian Kopelman

Attorney and Partner, DLA Piper

Ian Kopelman is an attorney and Partner in the law firm DLA Piper where he chairs the firm’s U.S. Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Group. He is also responsible for benefit plan aspects of mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, the establishment of processes to ensure compliance with fiduciary responsibilities and employee communications. He regularly counsels insurance and other financial service providers on product development. He is Chair of the Board of Trustees of his Firm’s over $1 billion retirement plans.

Mr. Kopelman is a frequent speaker and author on employee benefit topics, and has testified before the Department of Labor ERISA Advisory Council. He is listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in American Law, and has been named an Illinois Leading Lawyer by the Leading Lawyers Network and an Illinois Super Lawyer by Law & Politics and Chicago magazines. He has also been included in the annual editions of Best Lawyers in America for Employee Benefits Law since 2007.
