She also is the founder of several successful companies including NARPP and N-Labs, where she still holds board positions. She has a background in behavioral finance and research having helped launch the Behavioral Finance Forum. She is widely regarded as an expert in financial decision making, human-centered design and strategy.

Matt is a business intelligence professional specializing in the financial sector, who helps clients create innovative business solutions to produce efficient technology. His expertise stems from his extensive education in Information Technology Management and Statistics at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, TN. Matt has worked with industry leaders in developing SAAS (Software as a Service) platforms in the Retirement Planning and Mutual Fund Trading sectors. His focus is always on developing an IT culture focused on quick, simple, and innovative technology while ensuring that the final product always aligns with key business functions.

Bill Cahan

Co-Founder

Prior to starting Icon, Bill was President and Founder of one of the most successful strategic design and branding firms in the country, having received more than 2,800 awards nationally and internationally for his work. Bill specializes in transforming difficult and complex concepts into simple, understandable and engaging design. Bill has been featured on CNN and CNBC, is the subject of a book released by Princeton Architectural Press entitled “I am almost always hungry”, has lectured extensively throughout the world and is in the permanent collections of the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of architecture and design, The Library of Congress, the SF MOMA and others.

Michael Kreps

Legal Counsel

Michael Kreps specializes in issues relating to public policy, fiduciary responsibility, and plan funding and restructuring. He routinely represents both private and public sector clients before federal agencies and Congress.

Previously, Michael served as the Senior Pensions and Employment Counsel for the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions from the 110th through the 114th Congresses. In that role, he managed all aspects of the Committee’s retirement agenda and had primary staff responsibility for pension legislation, including the pension investment provisions of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the funding stabilization and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation reform provisions of the MAP-21 Act of 2012, the Pension Relief Act of 2010, and the CSEC Pension Flexibility Act. He also led the Committee’s oversight of regulatory activities involving employee benefit plans.

Lindsay Owens

Retirement and Economic Policy Advisor

Lindsay A. Owens, Ph.D., is the 2014-2015 American Sociological Association Congressional Fellow. She received her Ph.D. in sociology from Stanford University where she was a National Poverty Fellow at the Center on Poverty and Inequality and National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow. She is a frequent author of opinion pieces and editorials, coeditor of a chartbook of 100 facts and figures on inequality (Inequality in the US: Understanding Inequality with Data), and a contributing author to the 2011 book, The Great Recession. Her research has appeared in some of the leading social science journals including Social Forces, Public Opinion Quarterly, and The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science. Her research interests are in inequality, economic sociology, housing, debt, consumption, and political attitudes.

Polly Scott

Communication & Deferred Compensation Plan Manager

Polly Scott is the Communication & Deferred Compensation Plan Manager for the Wyoming Retirement system, and an Executive Board Member of the National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators (NAGDCA) until 2017. Polly provides leadership and vision for the Wyoming Retirement System’s 457 Plan and communication initiatives with expertise in retirement plan design, fiduciary oversight, and retirement policy initiatives.

Ian Kopelman

Attorney and Partner, DLA Piper

Ian Kopelman is an attorney and Partner in the law firm DLA Piper where he chairs the firm’s U.S. Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Group. He is also responsible for benefit plan aspects of mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, the establishment of processes to ensure compliance with fiduciary responsibilities and employee communications. He regularly counsels insurance and other financial service providers on product development. He is Chair of the Board of Trustees of his Firm’s over $1 billion retirement plans.

Mr. Kopelman is a frequent speaker and author on employee benefit topics, and has testified before the Department of Labor ERISA Advisory Council. He is listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in American Law, and has been named an Illinois Leading Lawyer by the Leading Lawyers Network and an Illinois Super Lawyer by Law & Politics and Chicago magazines. He has also been included in the annual editions of Best Lawyers in America for Employee Benefits Law since 2007.
